Seeking a Better Path
For a long time, I believed the saying: failure is necessary for success. It always felt like a terrible deal. This idea presents failure and success as two sides of the same bad situation. Success feels selfish, always wanting more. Failure feels awful, leaving you with less of everything. This focus on success and failure makes everyone feel inadequate. I’m tired of it.
Discovering a Different Goal
Success, as we usually see it, depends on external things and doesn’t last. Other people often get the credit. You can decide what success means to you, but often, if you don’t reach a specific goal, it feels like failure. However, I’ve found something different: fulfilment.
Fulfilment is a feeling you control, no matter what happens around you. When you feel fulfilled, you have the strength to handle anything. I suggest we aim for fulfilment instead of just success. But how can we do that? Don’t we need to be successful?
Embracing a Journey of Purpose
I believe the key is in what we try to achieve. If our goals are about becoming the person we want to be and doing what we believe is important, then we grow regardless of success or failure, and we move towards fulfilment. These kinds of goals could be part of a bigger, long-term plan. They might focus on helping others or working to make the world better.
Aim for fulfilment, because you can always carry that with you. Try to achieve things that contribute to something larger, create a purpose for your life. Understand who you want to help and how. Keep improving these ideas, and stay on a continuous path to be good and do good. Work on becoming the person who can make those things happen, so you develop as you pursue your goals.
